Kent County Cricket Club have today confirmed that twenty players are now contracted for the 2013 season after twelve agreed new contracts.
Kent Cricket stalwarts, Geraint Jones, James Tredwell and Darren Stevens have renewed contracts with the Club, as have three recent Kent signings, Mark Davies, Ben Harmison and Brendan Nash.
Recently capped player, Sam Northeast has also extended his contract with the Club, along with Sam Billings, both of whom have made significant contributions during the 2012 season.
Youngsters, Fabian Cowdrey, Ben Kemp, Ivan Thomas – all Academy Graduates – and Ashley Shaw are also extending their contracts.
In addition, Adam Ball, Daniel Bell-Drummond, Alex Blake, Matt Coles, Rob Key, Mike Powell, Adam Riley and Charlie Shreck all remain in contract for the 2013 season.
Commenting on the announcement, Kent Cricket Chairman of Cricket, Graham Johnson said; “I am extremely pleased to announce that the core of the 2012 squad have committed their futures to Kent Cricket.
“During 2012, the players have performed well and we will seek to build upon this during 2013. I am particularly pleased that we have a great number of talented young cricketers coming through the system, and this season they have demonstrated their great potential.”
Meanwhile, it was announced a few weeks ago that seamer Simon Cook would be leaving the club, whilst Kent had agreed to release Azhar Mahmood from his two year deal, whilst retaining the option of offering him a T20 deal.
Batsman Chris Piesley will also be leaving the club for “cricketing reasons”.
